Be-friending

Are you able to give two hours of your time every fortnight?

Be-friending is a way of giving support. Be-frienders spend quality time with individual residents or day students, building trusting friendships and encouraging social interaction. As a be-friender you may accompany residents and day students on a range of social activities, such as trips to the cinema, swimming or walks around the countryside. Be-frienders aim to increase confidence and self-esteem by encouraging involvement in a range of activities and building a trusting and meaningful friendship.

Who can become a Be-friender?
Be-frienders are men and women of all ages, from all walks of life, who can volunteer two hours of their time every fortnight. • Sense of humour

What can we offer you?

  • Preparation to equip you in the role of Be-friender and the tasks expected of you
  • Initial and ongoing training
  • On-going regular contact and support
  • Out of pocket expenses e.g. childcare, travel
  • Fun
