Highland Spring

On 3rd and 4th May a team of Highland Spring staff and Camphill residents worked together to transform an overgrown part of the estate into a beautiful pond and seating area. It is one of the first stepping stones in our long term development plan and we would like to thank Highland Spring for getting involved. The project was a great success.

St Johns Day

Midsummer’s day is officially fixed not on the solstice (July 21st) but on June 24th which is also the birthday of St. John. We celebrate with a Midsummer community barbecue. Each house prepares a salad and drinks and we often eat summer pudding for dessert. If the weather is not good we eat indoors creating the ambiance of summer with bowls of fruit and flowers.

Pancake day

Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent – a period of fasting. Traditionally eggs and dairy products were given up for Lent and so leftovers had to be used up for pancakes the day before. Today, pancake day is celebrated by making, tossing and eating pancakes. At Camphill Blair Drummond we watch and participate in pancake races, tossing our pancakes as we run. It’s great fun and we can enjoy a pancake at the end!

June Event

On 4th June friends, family and associates of Camphill Blair Drummond enjoyed a tour and special preview of our development plans at Camphill Blair Drummond. They were able to see a slideshow and storyboards detailing the improvements we are making to the community. And, residents and students were able to show some of the work and social activities they had been doing.
